Twenty-one female juniors and seniors from Guthrie joined with peers from
around Houston to attend HerWorld @
DeVry University on March 8th. These forward-thinking students
got a firsthand look at the college and learned about the importance and need
for women to fill roles in technology-related careers.
Attendees heard from DeVry Metro President (and Spring Woods Alum)
Kim Nugent along with Adrienne Watson –
Clinical Director for Memorial Hermann Hospital Education and other guest
speakers. They participated in hands-on workshops and found out about DeVry’s
exciting program Passport2College that jumpstarts 11th and 12th
graders to attend college during the summer. This free program for students
sounded so good to Lucero Gonzalez that she signed up to take a Psychology class
during spring break.
Thanks to Abel Garza at DeVry and our own Betty
Franklin for coordinating the event.
