SAT Prep Scholarships

The SAT preparation company Appleton Learning recently awarded 15 test prep scholarships to students enrolled in the Spring Branch ISD Collegiate Challenge program.

The company-issued scholarships were awarded to students who prepared for the recent SAT test administration on May 4.

The scholarships were awarded to Collegiate Challenge students who are enrolled at Spring Woods, Stratford and Northbrook high schools, as well as Westchester Academy for International Studies, a district public charter secondary school.

As scholarship recipients, students attended a five-week traditional SAT course, found out what learning style was best for them, took two practice tests and had one-on-one strategy sessions with an Appleton instructor.

In a company press release, SBISD Community Relations Officer Linda Buchman reported that the district’s Collegiate Challenge program helps juniors and seniors prepare for college and future careers. So far, this year’s seniors have been offered more than $3.4 million in scholarship offers.

“Since 2000, our program has impacted more than 750 students, and our continued growth couldn’t occur without community partners like Appleton Learning,” states Buchman.

Appleton Learning is located at 1395 South Voss Road. For more information, go to the company’s website at, or like it on Facebook.

  1. I just took my SATs a few months ago and I did terribly! I've never been the best test taker and I feel like I was totally unprepared for the timed portions. My parents are getting me a SAT tutor in the Bay Area, but I don't think that it's going to help with my test anxiety. Do you know of any tips to prepare yourself mentally for taking tests like these?

  2. Fantastic Post!!
