During spring 2012, Spring Branch ISD students in grades 3 through 9 were mandated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to be assessed under the state’s new testing program known as the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, also known as the STAAR program.
The STAAR program replaced TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) for these students. Also last spring, first time ninth-grade students, and middle school students taking Algebra I and Geometry, took STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams for the first time at their campuses.
