School Day SAT Results Show Point Gains

Data comparison conducted on school administered SATs given in 2015 and this year show a 25 point increase in average total scores in Spring Branch ISD, from an average score of 1000 in 2015 to 1025 this year.

In March, the College Board began administering the redesigned SAT. In SBISD, the School Day SAT was given to all eligible juniors. 

Using data from the College Board’s own concordance study, which compares the old and new tests and test results, each SBISD high school showed higher average total scores from 2015 to 2016 on the School Day SAT.

The increases ranged from 19 points among juniors at Memorial High School to a 67-point gain at Spring Woods High School.

Additional highlights:

• On the district’s School Day SAT, district 11th graders had an average total score of 1025 with an Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 507 and average Math score of 519.
• Almost 90 percent of district juniors participated in the School Day SAT in March. The participation rate was about 91 percent in 2015.
• Westchester Academy for International Studies had 95 percent participation.
• At Spring Woods and Stratford high schools, 91 percent of 11th graders took the School Day SAT.
• The participation rates at Northbrook High, Stratford High and Academy of Choice were, respectively, 90 percent, 87 percent and 62 percent.
• Memorial and Stratford high schools and Westchester Academy had higher total SAT average scores than the district average. All three also had higher EBRW Reading and Writing and Math section scores than the district.
