The district rating is based on data reported for the 2010-2011 school year. SBISD received the FIRST system’s highest possible score of 70. To win this top ranking, the district received a perfect score in every possible category.
In 2001, the Texas Legislature created the School FIRST system, which includes 20 financial indicators to rate compliance by both public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools on financial standards, including financial management practices and management of financial resources.
SBISD Associate Superintendent of Finance Karen Wilson presented financial data and information on this year’s district School FIRST rating at the Oct. 22 Board of Trustees meeting. A public hearing was also conducted.
