For SBISD Educators - Masters Degree in Bilingual Education

Spring Branch ISD & The University of Texas at Brownsville invite district educators to an information meeting for a second M.Ed. cohort in Bilingual Education offering either a Dual Language or an ESL emphasis.

The first SBISD Cohort will graduate 13 students with a Masters Degree in Bilingual Education this May, 2013.

Currently, 19 teachers and administrators form a Houston Cohort of Masters and Doctoral Students in the Spring Branch ISD/ University of Texas Brownsville Partnership.

The dual language strand coursework is all in Spanish and is geared to K-8 teachers who want to work with bilingual learners in both Spanish and English. The ESL strand is for K-12 teachers who work with English language learners in English. Join your colleagues in this educationally enriched experience.

The Master of Education in Bilingual Education Program offers two emphases:
  • Dual Language and ESL.
  • All students take nine core courses in language development, second language acquisition, models of effective practice, linguistics, and assessment.
  • All coursework is offered at Edgewood Elementary via video conferencing or web-conferencing.
