Schaper Honored at Newspring Luncheon

Longtime Spring Branch ISD trustee and administrator Wayne Schaper Sr. was honored in September at the Newspring Fundraising Luncheon.

With nearly 55 years of service to the district, Schaper started as a teacher and coach at Landrum Middle School in 1961 before eventually serving as principal at Memorial High School for 20 years before retiring as a district administrator in 2001. He is currently serving his fourth three-year term on the Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees.

Furniture retailer Jim “Mattress Mack” Macingvale’s keynote address highlighted the importance of work in a person’s life, a message amplified by Master of Ceremonies Bill Stubbs.

Newspring is a non-profit that helps at-risk populations in Spring Branch define and achieve a bright future, through visual arts and business development programs.
